Silver Blades Awards


The Heidi Bertignoll Memorial Bursaries

To honour Heidi’s legacy of support to Silver Blades skaters, commencing 2022,  we will award two $500 bursaries. The Heidi Bertignoll Memorial Bursaries will be in the form of Silver Blades credits and will be awarded in confidence by way of an account credit on December 1st of the current skating year.   Decisions concerning the recipients of the bursaries will be made by the Silver Blades Board Executive in confidence.  If you are a committed and passionate skater who would benefit from some financial assistance to participate in programs at Silver Blades, please apply for the bursary  in confidence to board@silverblades.ca by answering the below questions. All applications must be received by September 30th of the current skating year.

Silver Blades National Competition Grant (subject to club sustainability)

Maximum amount given per year from the club: $4000.00

Maximum yearly amount per skater:  $1000 for singles skater.  Funds are to be applied to the cost of the registration fee and coaching related fees for that competition.  

 $1000 for Dance Team or Pairs Team (or $500/skater if only one meets Silver Blades criteria for the National Competition Grant).  Funds are to be applied to the cost of registration fee and coaching fee for that competition. 

$1000 for Synchro Team (given to manager/synchro chair to apply to registration fee for the competition and coaching fees related to that competition).

Rules:  Skater(s)/Team(s) may apply if qualified for National Competition (Skate Canada Challenge, Canadians, Canada Cup, etc.)

 

Rules for the applicant for Singles, Dance, Pairs for Silver Blades National Competition Grant

1) Must be a current Silver Blades member in good standing 

2) Must have been a member in good standing and have represented Silver Blades at competitions in the 24 months leading up the current skating year. 

3) Must have been PA and/or made a significant contribution to Silver Blades through family volunteering during the past 24 mos.

4) Must represent Silver Blades in competitions in the current skating year.

5) Must be coached by a Silver Blades club coach

All skaters/teams must apply to board@silverblades.ca for approval 

 

Rules for the applicant for Synchronized Skating Silver Blades National Competition Grant. 75% of competing skaters of Synchronized Skating Team must meet the following criteria

1) Must be a current Silver Blades member in good standing 

2) Must have been a member in good standing and have represented Silver Blades at competitions in the 24 months leading up the current skating year. 

3) Must have been PA and/or made a significant contribution to Silver Blades through family volunteering during the  past 24 mos.

4) Must represent Silver Blades in competitions in the current skating year. 

5) Must be coached by a Silver Blades club coach

All skaters/teams must apply to board@silverblades.ca for approval
