Club Policies

We are a large club and service a large number of skaters. Please help us run effectively by adhering to our club policies. Please refer to the menu items to read more about the Skater Code of Conduct, Music Playing Guidelines, and Privacy Policy.

Program Locations: All programs will take place at Central Arena (50 Montgomery Road, Etobicoke, Ontario, M8X 1Z4, Canada) with the exception of Beginner Synchronized Skating. This program is offered at Centennial Park Arena (156 Centennial Park Road, Etobicoke, M9C 5N3, Canada). We do not offer any products for purchase at either sites.

Registration: Once a session becomes filled to capacity, registration will be closed for that session. Registrations are complete once payment has been received.

Canceling Sessions: The Board of Directors reserves the right to cancel sessions that are under-registered or to consolidate sessions if numbers drop below a minimum level.

Fees: The fees consist of the session fee (amount varies per program), the annual family membership fee of $40, and the annual Skate Canada fee of $36 charged per skater. All of these fees must be paid in full prior to stepping on the ice. All transactions will be completed in Canadian dollars. Payment may be made online via credit card (Visa or MasterCard), or offline via cash, cheque or Silver Blades dollars.

Overdue Payments: The Board of Directors may cancel the membership of a skater not in good standing. A $30 charge will be applied to NSF cheques.

Refunds: A $50 administration fee will be charged for cancellations before the start of the season. Cancellations up to, and including, Thanksgiving Monday, will be prorated by the number of sessions to date, plus a $50 administration fee will be charged. The balance will be refunded. After Thanksgiving Monday, no refunds will be issued without a medical certificate. Requests for refunds must be made to the Board in writing.

Session Changes: A $20 administration fee will be charged for each change once a session has started.

Guest Fees: Given ice availability, non Silver Blades members skaters may guest skate at the appropriate level for a maximum of two sessions per month using ice tickets.

Private Lessons: Private lessons are arranged between the parents and the coach directly. Silver Blades Skating Club is not involved in any way of the selection of coaches or the payment of private lesson fees.

Ice Use: From time to time, sessions will be cancelled to accommodate competitions, test days and other events. Whenever possible, advance notice will be given.

Re-Surfacing: Should safety conditions require ice re-surfacing, the Club reserves the right to deduct the necessary time from any session in accordance with arena policy.

Helmets: In accordance with Skate Canada, helmets must be worn by all skaters who have not passed CanSkate level 5. Please see the Skate Canada helmet policy for more information.

Make up Classes: There are no make-up classes for classes missed for any reason.

Behaviour and Ice Etiquette: The Club reserves the right to remove any skater from the ice for disruptive behaviour or actions that are deemed dangerous to the individual or to others, and/or, to remove any skater from the ice if that skater’s parent/guardian enters the ice surface, is disruptive or acts in a way that is deemed dangerous to the skater or to others. Silver Blades may revoke the membership without refund. Please see the Skater Code of Conduct for more information.

Ensuring Safety: Silver Blades reserves the right to restrict skaters from skating on sessions where safety and ice flow are compromised due to lack of speed, skills and ice awareness, regardless of session criteria. Preliminary skaters must be registered in at least one Preliminary session, and have their private coach present, in order to skate on open ice sessions.
